When I 1st saw the hit I was like damn, he got jacked up, but then realized Portis wasn’t getting up so quickly. My 1st reaction, I think it’s just a stinger, he’ll be alright. Well we all know now after X-rays and MRIs it was a separated shoulder.
As John Madden said “A separation is where you get a separation; a dislocation is where it comes out and goes back in.“
There has been alot of talk about should there be preseason or not. I really don’t have an opinion too much on this. If you want to get rid of 2 games fine with me. But even if there was NO preseason games then Portis may have hurt his shoulder in the 1st drive of the 1st game, be out 4 weeks of regular season. As it stands now he’s out 4 weeks and hopefully be back for week 1. Which from where I stand is better than missing regular season games.
My only hope is he rests that shoulder and is 100% when he comes back. Being 85% and plaing a game, running the ball, the next week it may be 75%. We have a long season to go and we need a healthy Portis in February.
